Blogging

Thank you to everyone who has visited this blog over the years. It is a little temperamental and hasn't let me post for weeks! I think I will probably stick to twitter from now on. If you don't have the twitter app, you can access twitter online, through the school website or via this page.

Thank you

This week in The Enchanted Forest……

·          In English this week we have had a terrible shock! The fine prize cow was stolen and we had to work hard to write letters to persuade the robbers to give him back! Luckily, it did the trick and we managed to save him!

·          The Reception children have been doubling different numbers and objects. The Y1s have been solving problems involving 2s, 5s and 10s.

·          This week we said goodbye to our butterflies as we released them into the wild! We also created some great ‘wanted’ posters for the robbers and worked hard to make some super minibeast homes!

What an exciting week! Wishing everyone a lovely half-term break.

Saturday 20 May 2017

·          In English this week we have been reading ‘What the ladybird heard.’ We have identified the different characters in the story and imagined what they might be saying in different scenes in the story.

·          The Reception children have been finding half of different objects and quantities. The Y1s have been solving addition and subtraction problems involving one- and two-digit numbers.

·          We have also learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and enjoyed working on our throwing and aiming skills in PE. We have also been very busy practising for our class assembly.

Thank you to everyone who watched our class assembly today and donated some cakes for our cake sale. We hoped you enjoyed it!

Minibeast workshop

We loved our minibeast workshop this week! We enjoyed learning facts about the different creatures and were very excited to get to hold lots of them!

This week in The Enchanted Forest……

·          In English this week we sequenced the events in our minibeast workshop. We then wrote a recount of what we did and the different creatures we saw.

·          The Reception children have been working on solving addition problems using objects and money. We have also been writing number sentences to match our calculations. The Y1s have been solving more or less number problems.

·          We have also been identifying the different features of minibeasts and how they look different from each other. We made some lovely butterfly collages and started learning a song for our class assembly.

Saturday 29 April 2017

·          In English this week we have started reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We labelled some key objects from the story and sequenced the different food that the caterpillar ate.

·          The Reception children have been working on counting and matching numerals to quantities. The Y1s have been representing numbers using objects and pictures.

·          We have also been creating some hungry caterpillar art as well as learning about different types of minibeasts. We were also very excited to have received our very own caterpillars! We will watch them grow and change over the next few weeks until they become butterflies!

This week in The Enchanted Forest……

·         In English this week we received a letter from Handa from the story ‘Handa’s Surprise.’ We were very excited and wrote some letters back to Handa asking her lots of different questions.

·         The Reception children have been recognising and describing different 3D shapes. The Y1s have been working hard to find quarters of different objects.

·         We have been very busy writing our own information texts about African animals. We also used the ipads to make comic strips and had lots of fun on Friday taking part in different Easter-themed activities.

Wishing everyone a lovely Easter holiday!
